Product Information
At the Walthers Cornerstone Front Street Warehouse big old wooden trackside doors creak as they're opened. Workers slide open the doors of a boxcar and get to work unloading its contents into the brick building. Tucked into the cramped quarters of the waterfront industrial district, the Front Street Warehouse is the kind of venerable brick building that every layout needs in its older industrial areas. Sturdy, fire-resistant buildings like this made it possible to store cargo coming ashore from ships until enough wagons, freight cars or trucks could be made available. They could also hold outbound freight until a ship arrived. Brick rapidly became the building material of choice in the 1800s, to provide a sturdy, fire-resistant building. Large windows let in plenty of natural light and skylights were also added to the roof. Many of these older buildings are still standing, some still serving as industrial structures, others converted into up-scale condominiums or apartments. It's big enough to look right, small enough to fit most layouts and packed with realism. Up on the roof there are realistic elevator housings and a clerestory. The kit comes your choice of molded windows or window sheets printed with fine mullions. The HO Scale model comes molded in a variety of colors, and the parts are highly detailed to capture the look of brick-by-brick construction. As an additional feature, the kit can be built with standard molded windows, or with screen-printed windows which feature a thinner, more prototypical mullion. At home in any industrial setting, the finished Front Street Warehouse kit measures just 6-3/4 x 15-3/8 x 10" 16.8 x 38.4 x 25cm.
Realistic brick walls
Rooftop elevator sheds and clerestory
Molded or fine printed windows
Molded in four colors and clear plastic
Easy-to-build plastic kit
